Itinerary
Day 1: Cusco – Chinchero
Our great adventure will start with a pick up from your hotel at 9:00 am, where we will then travel to the district of Chinchero Peru, located 35 minutes from the city of Cusco. Next we will reach the community of Ocutuan – Umasbamba by trail, where our host family will be waiting for us. Upon arrival, we will be greeted by the host family and have a tour of the house. In addition to the initial greeting, we will have the morning free to meet and get to know our host family.
Later in the afternoon we will have a delicious, typical lunch. We will also have the opportunity to share in the daily activities that the family performs such as the grazing of animals, gathering of firewood, and working in the land. After a delicious dinner, we will then spend the night in the house of our new family.
Day 2: Chinchero – Cusco
After a delicious breakfast, our host family will further introduce the community, its typical streets, its church, and its people. We will continue with the daily activities of the locals, during which we will be able to watch a beautiful demonstration of Andean textile art. Additionally, our host family will teach us this wonderful textile art, from cutting the wool of sheep to the final product of a textile. We will also have the opportunity to buy handcrafted goods made by our hosts to take as gifts. After a delicious lunch, we will say goodbye to our host family and then return to Cusco City.
